Rope Access
If you are asking yourself how one can gain access to clean, repair, renovate or make safe a particularly challenging position, then rope access is your work solution. Rope access gets you to places no other form of access can and may often be the only choice. Rope access does not require unsightly or expensive ladders or scaffolding that can disrupt not only external traffic, but the staff working inside a building. No need of scissor lifts or mechanical hoists that first have to gain access themselves before the work can start, and above all, no hiring of expensive lifting equipment. Using rope technicians and their rope access kit requires minimal set-up time, and remove of all their equipment at the end of the working day, thus providing a cost efficient solution to a simple job made complex just because of its location.
Working at Heights
A general awareness course covering a range of fall protection equipment together with practical experience on the use of this equipment, a well as care and maintenance. This course includes correct fitting of a safety harness together with a variety of fall protection equipment, and includes pre-use check, installation and methods of use for the equipment selected. The working methods that will be demonstrated will include restraint, work positioning and fall arrest. An overview of fall prevention and protection measures as set out in the Work at Height Regulations will also be discussed.
Abseiling
This course is designed to allow you as many descents as possible and is focused on developing good abseiling techniques, safe practice, personal confidence, and having fun.
All the equipment is provided by FSE. The abseiling day commences with an introduction to the instructors and a general safety briefing.
Then you are given a short overview of the equipment used during the program, a demonstration on how to fit your personal gear as well as abseiling techniques and further specific safety points. The high instructor to participant ratio (1:8) ensures the safety and quality of your experience throughout the day.
You are then closely supervised through a mock descent in which you learn about attaching to and disconnecting from the rope, safety calls, and the back-up braking procedure. Then it's off to the nursery slope for your first abseil after which as confidence is gained you are moved on to higher descents.
This is a four hour course in which time you are allowed as many descents as possible during this time.
